Your work has a home.
Here’s what leaves it.
Weenoko is a local-first desktop app with online AI access. These are separate parts of the product, and we want that distinction to be clear.
What stays on your computer
The desktop app stores your saved conversations, project information, and generated work files locally. Installing the app does not create a cloud copy of your whole workspace. Local backups are files you choose to export and manage.
What is sent for an AI request
When you use AI, the prompt and context needed for the task travel through Weenoko’s service, hosted on Cloudflare, to OpenAI. Depending on your task, this can include conversation history, relevant file contents, images, and tool results. Those requests leave your computer even though the saved workspace is local.
Use care with confidential or sensitive material. OpenAI handles API request data under its own API data policies; local storage in Weenoko does not override the provider’s retention or processing rules.
Access and usage information
The preview does not require an account. The app uses an installation credential to request access, and the service keeps the usage and allowance information needed to enforce limits and control costs. Network services also receive technical request information such as your IP address.
The OpenAI API key stays in the server’s secret storage. It is not sent to the desktop app or included in the installer. An installation credential is a separate, limited access credential.
Other connections
Checking for updates and downloading installers connects to GitHub. Web research, links you open, and tools you ask the app to use may connect to other sites or services. Those destinations have their own data practices.
This website
This website does not add analytics, advertising trackers, sign-up forms, or cookies. It does not send visitor activity to an analytics provider. The hosting provider processes the network requests needed to deliver the site. Download and release-note links take you to GitHub.
Diagnostics and control
The app can open its local diagnostics folder when you ask. Opening that folder does not upload it. Review diagnostics before sharing: logs can contain technical details or information about your work. A local data backup is different and can contain your conversations and files; do not share a whole backup as a routine bug report.
You control files and backups on your computer. See Help for the app’s existing local-data and diagnostic controls.
